Jobs:
Qualified Field Instructor – Blue Ridge Therapeutic Wilderness
Unique opportunity. Applicants will be asked to go on a week-long training/orientation trip. The orientation trip is viewed as an interview process where you will experience the program structure. It is also a time for the prospective employee to “interview” the program. Participation in the orientation trip does not guarantee a position; however, BRTW will hire new employees on the last day of Orientation. The next training is May 11 to 17th. Field Instructors are pivotal to the success of BRTW. Field instructors work an 8-day on, 6-day off schedule. For the entire 8 days, instructors hike and camp with clients in the National Forest. The program serves youth “in-crisis”, ages 11-18. Field instructors work with licensed therapists to deliver an individualized experience to every client. The Field Instructor position is great for someone who wants to have a positive impact on youth while working in a beautiful outdoor setting. BRTW is known for their outstanding instructors and a high instructor to student ratio. Field Instructors are trained on wilderness and therapeutic skills during a 7-day Orientation trip and they receive continual training throughout their employment. Please submit the application (at http://blueridgewilderness.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/Blue-Ridge-Field-Instructor-Application-2017.pdf ) , resume, and certifications to careers@blueridgewilderness.com  Please indicate on your application if you are looking for year-round, or summer employment. Applicants come with a variety of backgrounds and experience. An open mind and willingness to learn are essential. Applicants are required to be a minimum of 21 years of age, have a current physical and current CPR & Standard First Aid. Prospective employees will be required to pass a drug screening before beginning the training, and once hired, will be randomly drug screened on an ongoing basis. Blue Ridge Therapeutic Wilderness will also process a State and Federal criminal background check (BCI) of all potential employees. If you have any questions, please ask to speak to a Field Director at the BRTW office: 706.212.2037
