Summer 2011 Intern

José Ramon Ibarra: Georgia College & State University

He is an immigrant from Guanajuato, Mexico and his family has resided in Gainesville Georgia for eleven years. He is a proud West Hall High School alumnus and at the age of eighteen, he is an up coming sophomore at Georgia College & State University. Until now his major is undeclared however, after his experience at GALEO he hopes to have a better understanding of which route he wants to take in life. Due to his job experience in one of many poultry plants in Gainesville, as well washing dishes at a local restaurant, to landscaping; he feels that he is well aware of the difficulties that the immigrant faces on this side of the border. Just like the great Cesar Chavez, he hopes to one day become an activist of influence and change. Through his internship experience he hopes to grow as an individual but most importantly to lend a hand to his community.
