Summer 2005 Interns

Sherron Burgess

Sherron Burgess is a master's student in the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs at the Georgia Institute of Technology. She serves on the International Affairs Graduate Organization Executive Board as the Vice-President and also on the board of the Black Graduate Student Association. Sherron attended Siena College for her undergraduate studies majoring in Spanish and minoring in Biology and Religious Studies. Sherron was born in North Carolina and raised in Mississippi, Tennessee and New York. In her spare time Sherron likes to play basketball and hang out with friends. She also enjoys traveling, having studied abroad in Costa Rica and Mexico.

Bea Staley

Bea Staley is a fourth year undergraduate student at Emory University. She is pursuing Bachelor degrees in Spanish, French, and International Studies. She is a member of Phi Sigma Iota, the romance language honor society, and the senior honor society the Mortar Board where she serves as Philanthropy Chair. Bea actively pursues her studies in foreign languages with hopes to work in international affairs. She has studied abroad three times, in Spain and France. After obtaining her undergraduate degree, she plans to attend law school.

Carlos Lares

Carlos T. Lares is a senior at Kennesaw State University. This summer Carlos will be receiving a bachelor's degree from the Political Science & International Affairs department of KSU. Carlos was born in Denver, Colorado and raised in Venezuela, Canada and Europe. Carlos is a Certified program Provider of the Georgia Commission on Interpreters and serves as In-house Interpreter for Superior Court of Fulton County. Carlos enjoys swimming and coffee. Cesar Jaimes Cesar Jaimes obtained an A.A. in Communications from Georiga Perimeter College. He is a member of Phi Tetta Kappa, which is the international honors society for two-year colleges. He will be attending Georgia State University in the Fall.Originally from Mexico, Cesar with his mother and two sisters moved to Atlanta in 1998.After obtaining his bachelor degree in Communications, Cesar plans to get his master’s in Communications. Cesar enjoys playing soccer and listening to his favorite rock band—Oasis.

Augustin Luna (Volunteer)

Augustin recently graduated with highest honors from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta. He earned an AS in Chemistry from Middle Georgia College and a BS in Biomedical Engineering from Georgia Tech. He plans to pursue a career in medical research by obtaining a doctoral degree bioinformatics. Born in Chicago, Illinois, Augustin has lived the majority of his life in Georgia with his mother and father. During his time at Georgia Tech, Augustin served as the President of the student chapter of the Biomedical Engineering Society, the Secretary of the Biomedical Engineering Student Advisory Board, and a representative in the Student Government Association. He also served on two institute-wide committees: the Honor Committee, as a justice, and Student Health Advisory Committee. Augustin is a member of Tau Beta Pi, the engineering honor society and Alpha Eta Mu Beta, the national biomedical engineering honor society.
