Felix Amaya is one of GALEO’s newest interns for the Fall of 2021! He is a Salvadoran – American male born in Lawrenceville, Georgia but raised in Marietta. As a first-generation Latino student, he pushes to achieve what his family would be proud of by advocating for the Latinx community.
As a college student at Kennesaw State University, Felix has been a photographer for the student newspaper, The Sentinel. Also, he has previously worked with La Vision Newspaper, located out of Gwinnett. At La Vision, he was involved with interviewing, writing, photographing, and publishing for the Latinx community. In December of 2021, he will graduate with a Bachelors in Spanish Modern Language and Culture with a minor in Latinx Studies.
Felix’s favorite pastimes are going on hikes, photography, and music. He has played the drums since he was ten years old and got his first camera at the age of eighteen. Many of his photographs range from beautiful nature landscapes to protests in Atlanta. The ability for him to be a part of a bilingual speaking non-profit organization helps him keep pushing for Latinx rights, leadership, and progressiveness.
