Giselle Simental is a first-generation Mexican-American student. She is a senior at the University of North Georgia majoring in Political Science with a minor in foreign languages. Those languages include Spanish and Arabic. After undergraduate school, Giselle hopes to go to graduate school and work towards a master’s degree in either International Relations or Business Administration. She was born and raised in Gainesville, GA, but her parents are from Durango, Mexico. A piece of Giselle’s heart belongs to it as well.
Giselle believes that the immigrant community is what holds the economy together. She believes that her parents are some of those people. Increasing civic engagement among immigrants, no matter their race or nationality, is what she is hoping to accomplish.
