Your voice of reason is still needed against the Trump Wall & for permanent solution for DREAMers!

Feb. 4, 2019

Hope you enjoyed and survived Super Bowl LIII in the ATL!  There was a lot of excitement and plenty of things to do during the last week.  As we get back into our regular routines this week, please take a moment to take some action.
Please take the time to call our U.S. Senators and remind them you are still following this and you do NOT want a border wall.   In addition, we do need permanent fixes for our DREAMers and TPS folks in the negotiating process for the government funding debate.  YOUR VOICE IS NEEDED!
As we continue 2019, please take a look below at many ways in which you would be able to engage and defend our nation’s democracy.  Now, more than ever, is your voice needed and your actions with our efforts are essential.  Please join us!
Please join our advocacy efforts by joining our texting campaign.  Please stay engaged and respond to important actions by texting the word IMMIGRATION to the short code number 864-237.  This will add you to our texting program to ensure we speak up at needed times.

Call our U.S. Senators to remind them not to fund the border wall #NoWall & ask for permanent solution for DREAMers & TPS
Your U.S. Senators must take a stand against the border wall.  You may call them at the numbers below.

Phone:  (202) 224-3643

In exchange for Trump’s border wall, people are floating whether a Dream/TPS solution should be included in the deal. Most recently, Senator Scott said publicly that a Dream/TPS fix should be included in the deal.
To that end, Georgia plays a critical role in these negotiations.  Congressman Doug Collins sits on the House Judiciary Committee and Congressman Tom Graves serves on the Appropriations Committee.  These two Congressmen are in the middle of these negotiations. In addition Georgia Senator Johnny Isakson has been receptive to compromises that include protections for Dreamers and TPS refugees.
On behalf of, we are asking that you help us contact Congressman Collins, Congressman Graves and Senator Isakson to encourage these legislators to make DACA/TPS protection part of the funding deal required by February 15.
Here are the top line talking points on this issue:
  • Dreamers and TPS holders are facing an imminent crisis and Congress must pass a long-term legislative solution ASAP
  • Every time Congress is having an immigration conversation and they aren’t trying to figure out how to address Dreamers and TPS holders, they are failing
  • Finding a solution for Dreamers and TPS holders is supported by 86% of Americans; now is the time for Congress to find common ground and address this issue once and for all
  • No one wants another government shutdown. Let’s use the example of the recently passed criminal justice reform legislation as a blueprint for how Congress can work together to face important issues impacting our country.
We are  hoping that you can help us advocate for a real solution by calling or emailing these three Congressional members over the next week.
