Lorena Mora Basto (she/her/ella) is the Director of Communications at GALEO.  She previously served as Program Coordinator for Communications for more than a year.

Born and raised in Colombia, Lorena has experience and knowledge in all communication fields, a bachelor’s degree in Science of Communication and Journalism from Autónoma de Occidente University in Colombia, and a Master’s degree in Audiovisual Communication from the Catholic University of Argentina.

A significant experience in her career was creating and leading the Communications Office for the Colombian National Army Corps of Engineers for three years. Another meaningful experience for her was being part of EFE Agency, a Spanish international news agency, the primary multimedia news agency in Spanish language and the world’s fourth largest wire service after the Associated Press, Reuters, and Agence France-Presse

Lorena fell in love with Georgia at first sight, dazzled with the native natural world, beautiful birds, and incredible trees. She hopes she can impact communities so people can love, treasure, protect and preserve nature.
