Norcross, GA – GALEO, which works to increase civic participation by informing and empowering the Latino community, today issued the following statement from CEO Jerry Gonzalez and Elisa Covarrubias, Deputy Director, on Georgia’s 2026 midterm elections:
“According to the Georgia Secretary of State, more than 198,000 Latinos voted in the midterm elections, up 78% from the previous midterm elections in 2022. In fact, in precincts with over 30% Latino voters, the turnout was 81.8%, two points above the statewide turnout rate. This surge shows our community is a powerful force determined to be heard on the issues that matter most, like the cost of living,” said Jerry Gonzalez, CEO of GALEO.
“Behind these numbers are conversations at doors and collaborative work with other organizations that empower our communities to be heard. Civic participation doesn’t end on Election Day. Through leadership programs and civic education, we are preparing the next generation of Latino leaders to serve their communities, and we will keep working so every eligible Georgian has the information and resources to take part,” said Elisa Covarrubias, Deputy Director of GALEO.
