Yvette Zapata is a first-generation student currently attending Georgia State University studying Pre-Marketing. She was born and raised in Austell Georgia to two Mexican-born parents. Originally she attended Young Harris College under the Sharp Scholarship in pursuit of a Graphic Design degree. During her time there she was a part of the Black Student Union as a Social Media Manager helping to plan events, make flyers, run campaigns, and handle all Instagram posts for the club. After studying art for a semester and a half at the college she decided to transfer to Atlanta to focus more on business studies.

In the summer she was a growth intern for the WYA App, an event planning app made by college students for students, and was in charge of sales (reaching out to different organizations for the app’s ambassador program), helped in marketing strategies for their social media and created events to better promote the app.

In her free time, she likes to spend time with her family, volunteer in her community, and participate in various Christian activities and events around the Atlanta area.
