(Norcross, Georgia) – February 25, 2018 – GALEO encourages Gwinnett County registered voters to ‘VOTE YES’ on the upcoming MARTA referendum election scheduled for March 19th. Expanding MARTA to the county will not only afford Gwinnett hundreds of jobs, but it will also allow residents easy access to the city, as well as the airport, schools, hospitals and entertainment.
“When the referendum is successfully approved by voters, Gwinnett County can expect continued growth. Beyond transit, a MARTA expansion would mean that Gwinnett residents will gain access to many resources that were once out of reach and that would facilitate the development of the community,” said Jerry Gonzalez, Executive Director of GALEO. “Atlanta is growing rapidly and voting in favor of the MARTA expansion makes it clear that Gwinnett wants to be part of that growth.” Early voting is now available until March 15th, which means that voters can begin casting their ballots today in this important election to bring and expanded public transit options for Gwinnett County residents.
This process begins phase two of our voter engagement efforts. Earlier this month, we began educating voters about an election that was happening on March 19th. Now, GALEO will continue education efforts, but also encourage a YES vote on the referendum.
